VALMEINIER 1800 / VALLOIRE

High in the French Alps at 6,000ft the resort of Valmeinier is a sensational find, an undiscovered 'jewel in the Alps'. Located high in the Maurienne Valley, Valmeinier enjoys season-long snow cover, being only 10 minutes as the crow flies from Val Thorens and its glaciers. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced skier, this is one of the few resorts which solves the problem of families and groups of different skiing abilities.

Valmeinier/Valloire with its dramatic scenery has varied and extensive skiing encompassing three valleys. This area has all the ingredients to make it a big hit as it offers superb skiing for everyone. You can enjoy skiing above the tree line on wide pistes or take scenic routes through the trees down to the rustic villages of Valloire and Les Verneys. There are a selection of mountain restaurants and bars which enjoy a good reputation for quality and reasonable prices. Floodlit night skiing is also included in your lift pass.

For NON-SKIERS, there is also a large number of activities, enabling everyone to enjoy this fabulous area in the French Alps.

Ski Valmeinier 1800 & Valloire

The excellent nursery slopes are right outside the hotel and the resort prides itself on its quality grooming which will boost the confidence of beginner skiers who can then progress to the leisurely blue runs across the valley chairlift to Valloire.

For confident skiers, the fast chair lift just outside our hotel takes you to a vantage point from where you can ski back to 1800 or head off towards Valmeinier 1500. You can ski directly to le Crey du Quart and Valloire from the piste behind the hotel. You can also ski back to below 1800 directly from Valloire and take the super lift up to 1800.

Our staff are on hand to help you with all of your skiing needs and you may also join in with our SOCIAL SKIING service to enjoy the best that the mountain has to offer, without even having to open up a piste map.

Off-Piste Skiing

Enjoy another dimension of skiing by taking the opportunity to go ‘off piste’ in a majestic and tranquil mountain environment far away from the rest of our busy world.*

In most of the well-known resorts any fresh snow is tracked out within hours of falling. Valmeinier 1800/ Valloire, located in the Maurienne Valley (just the other side of Val Thorens) is probably the least known major off-piste ski area and you can ski fresh tracks for several days.

Many mountain guides from the best French resorts rate this area as "THE PLACE" to ski off-piste and we are certainly thrilled by our experiences of skiing here. The expertise of a mountain guide is essential and with your guide you can head off for a terrific adventure into the untracked slopes of Valmeinier 1800/ Valloire or from the top of Val Thorens (transport required).

*Please ensure you have adequate insurance cover and are with a qualified mountain guide.
